WHAT IS A TIMELINE?
A timeline shows the order in which events occur. In other words it organises dates in a chronological sequence in a graphic e.g.

HOW TO CONSTRUCT A TIMELINE
1. Look through the dates in the list and find the earliest and the most recent ones. The timeline must be long enough to include both of these.
2. A timeline can be drawn across or down the page. Consider the amount of space you have to draw your timeline on (i.e. page size)
3.Divide your timeline into segments using a sensible scale. Remember, the segments must be equal.
4. Label the dates on the appropriate segments (if the line is across the page, start the dates from the left OR if the line is down the page, start the dates at the bottom of the page).
5. Insert the events on the timeline using an arrow pointing to the correct place on the line
6. Label the timeline with an appropriate title e.g. Timeline of ……
